The mystery of medicine.

Grab your magnifying glass and get ready to investigate infectious diseases, the causes of diseases, available therapies and more. Discover lessons learned from current and past pandemics to help us in the future. Explorers will gain insight from local medical professionals and current Wake Forest University students. Prepare to utilize epidemiology practices to investigate, analyze, and evaluate outcomes in order to maintain public health.

Overnight Program

  • 8:00 am – Morning Meeting and Breakfast
  • 9:00 am – Welcome and Program Introduction
  • 9:30 am – Morning Session: Intro to Epidemiology
  • 11:00 am – Workshop 1: Example of an Outbreak Investigation
  • 12:00 pm – Lunch
  • 1:00 pm – Outdoor Time: Sand Volleyball
  • 2:00 pm – Afternoon Session: Microbiology 101
  • 3:00 pm – Lab: What’s in My Petri Dish?
  • 3:45 pm – Debrief for Next Day
  • 4:00 pm – Return to dorm rooms
  • 5:30 pm – Dinner
  • 6:30 pm – Evening Activities (Movie Night, Trivia, Karaoke)
  • 9:00 pm – Prepare for Bed
  • 10:00 pm – Lights Out
