Our Summer Exploration Program team can’t wait to meet you on-campus for summer 2022! We have operated online for the past two summers and many of you may be wondering what the overnight, on-campus experience will look like. Middle school students have the unique opportunity to live like a Demon Deacon, eat in the dining hall and live in the residence halls.

Dining

Students will eat their meals in our dining hall, commonly referred to as “The Pit.” Does your child have food allergies or other dietary restrictions? Don’t worry! The Pit can accommodate all students and their dietary preferences including: vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets. *Reminder: parents/guardians will need to disclose food allergies and dietary preferences on the Medical Authorization form.

Room and Board

Middle school and high school students will live in separate residence halls during the summer. Students will be assigned one roommate and share a bathroom with three other students in a suite-style residence hall. Each room includes a sink and MicroFridge. The residence hall also includes a large TV, ping pong table and several social spaces.

Students have the option to request a roommate or single room. *Reminder: roommate requests are not guaranteed and must be received by April 29th. Email middleschool@wfu.edu to request a roommate.

If you don’t have a roommate request, don’t worry! The majority of students joining us on campus are not requesting roommates. We love to see students build new friendships with students they would have otherwise never met! Our team will match students with a roommate based on gender, grade level and interests/activities shared on the application. If you approved for your email address to be shared with your roommate on the registration form, we will connect you with your assigned roommate prior to you joining us on campus.

What to bring?

Upon registering for the Summer Exploration Program, you will receive a packing list with suggested items to bring and a list of restricted items that students should not bring on campus. Parents/Guardians will be able to help students get settled into their rooms during the check-in period from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

As always, contact our Summer Exploration Program team at middleschool@wfu.edu or (980) 224-9281 with any questions.

We can’t wait to see you on campus!
